Our free range pork cheeks come complete with fat and skin, to create a truly melt in the mouth dish. Cooked low and slow, these collagen rich tissues produce a gelatin rich broth with a wonderful deep umami flavour, alongside a beautiful cut of meat that has a buttery and sumptuous texture. The meat when cooked well, falls apart easily and is the perfect nutrient dense cut, to refuel yourself after a busy day!

For best results cook for 4-6hours in the slow cooker, with a selection of stewing vegetables. You may want to allow the broth to cool, so you can easily skim off the fat to use as a cooking oil in other recipes.

Description

Our free-range pork cheek comes from pigs that are free to roam throughout their lives and spend much of their time rooting in the earth.

Our free range pork is reared in a system that has health and welfare at its heart. These pigs are not certified organic but have the space to roam and root and eat a natural foraged based diet.

The pigs are reared on a high proportion of pasture approved foods including fresh pasture, local vegetables and lucerne silage. The pigs will receive some grains and a mix of foods to help them achieve essential nutrients such as copper sulphate. They are also reared without the use of routine antibiotics.
